After 5 years of a unique career, which managed to become the first electric car with the highest global sales in 2023 for all energies combined, the Tesla Model Y is going through the “improvement” box. New style, new functions, increased autonomy: anything goes. Here’s what you need to remember.

Introduced in 2019, Tesla Model Y was the fourth electric car in the distance – thus closing the S3XY arc. A car with a success that exceeds all expectations: with more than 3.5 million examples, the electric SUV has even achieved the the best selling car in the world in 2023, all energies converged.
Five years later, everything has changed. The competition is still fierce and Tesla even saw a (very slight) decline in sales in 2024 for the first time in its history. So it was necessary to respond: here is the updated version European Y modela few days after the introduction of the Chinese version.

Current series, improved aerodynamics
If Tesla communicates on the “new Model Y”, we are really only dealing with a deep restyling current version. This is especially evident on the exterior, where the American SUV retains its rather rounded line with a sloping roofline.

That remains the front develops deeply. The Model Y bids farewell to its Model 3 family resemblance to embrace the brand’s latest launches: the Cybertruck and Cybercab.

However, this stylistic development has a much more important meaning for the electric car: already very well developed on the previous version, aerodynamics it keeps getting better. The lower hood, redesigned rear spoiler, improved diffuser, redesigned wheels and other small details help to reduce fuel consumption – and thus increase range.
With the Long Range Integral Transmission version, we get from 16.9 to 15.3 kWh/100 km, which is enough to display a range of 568 km according to the WLTP cycle. Elevation 33 km compared to the current version.
A more cozy interior…
Inside, this Model Y “2.0” evolves less radically. The spirit of the redesigned Model 3 is very present with this new dashboard, including notably a LED headband RGB surrounding the whole.

Materials are also evolving, dropping the wood veneer for a fabric insert. If the screen remains 15.4 inchesits edges become thinner, making the whole more elegant. PUSH connectivity improves so downloading updates is smoother and faster while receivingultra wideband This will make the use of digital keys stored on owners’ smartphones and connected watches more reliable.

Finally, emphasis was placed on comfort. The redesigned front seats are now ventilated as standard. To this we add a suspension revised and Model Y should – finally – offer noticeable comfort.

At the back, if the seats remain “only” heated, there are other novelties. Like the rest of the lineup, this Model Y gets a 8 inch display, it is enough to set the air conditioning and media, but also watch videos or play games by connecting the Bluetooth controller.
…and more practical
It doesn’t end there: the back of the bench becomes motorized. If the tilt for the passengers is adjustable, they can be lowered from the front window, bench seat or trunk with a simple push of a button.

If Tesla continues to not communicate the volume of the latter, the total space 2,138 liters it loses 20 small liters – a negligible loss considering the depth of the whole. Trunk in front, famous frunkalso receive a outlet. Useful, for example, for washing with large amounts of water.
But where this Model Y departs from the Model 3 is the steering wheel. While the sedan has said goodbye to all controls by placing the indicators on the steering wheel and the gear selector on the screen, the Model Y sees indicator lever return. That’s why Tesla listened to customer feedback.
When launching only one version, increasing prices
True, Tesla is opening orders for this revised Model Y today… but only one version available: Great Autonomy Integral Transmission (read: large battery and all-wheel drive) in the entry-level version Start release.
Price? 60,990 euros. Quite a high price and up to 9000 euros compared to the current version – even an increase to 13,000 euros, if we take into account the current promotions. The additional cost that Tesla tries to justify is the gains in equipment and comfort, but this additional cost remains significant.
The brand promises: more versions will arrive a little later. As the Model Y remains assembled in Berlin, the Propulsion version should continue to benefit from the eco-bonus, provided it does not exceed €47,000. Which we hope so, as it currently starts at €44,490.
