Renault Scénic E-Tech: best price, spec sheet and news
Find out more about the Renault Scénic E-Tech
More than a year after the concept, Renault is finally unveiling the production version of its new Scénic E-Tech electric car. The completely redesigned electric SUV inherits the engine from the Mégane E-Tech and the battery from the Nissan Ariya. Small bonuses: the presence of a “magic” panoramic roof, as in Porsche and Volkswagen, as well as Android Automotive.
Who said that The Renault Scénic was dead ? Certainly not a diamond manufacturer. Because if the previous generation launched in 2016 disappeared from the catalog, there is no doubt that the brand would leave a void in this segment. And while minivans aren’t really on the rise anymore, they are nownow it will turn into an electric SUV.
A more assertive style
At the beginning of last year, the French company confirmed to us that its Scénic, which came to the market for the very first time in 1996, will indeed be renewed. The promise was kept, as a few months later, in May 2022, the concept of reporting was introduced. hybrid hydrogen engine which will not be preserved in the end.
Last June, the brand continued to develop its prototype before revealing some homemade spy shots. And after long months of waiting, the production version is finally revealed, at the IAA in Munich which opens its doors to the press today. And the least we can say is that the electric SUV evolves in depth, with its angular lines signed by former Peugeot style chief Gilles Vidal and its proportions that no longer have anything to do with the old one.

This new generation takes its new location and displays generous dimensions length 4.47 meters to a width of 1.86 meters and a height of 1.57 meters. A beautiful baby whose style is complemented by 19 and 20 inch rims and which shows harmonious proportions with an extended wheelbase of 2.78 meters. The manufacturer has not stated the Cd (coefficient of aerodynamic drag) for now, but it has been optimized thanks to the handles integrated into the body as well as the aerodynamic rims.
Up front, this Scénic E-Tech marks the arrivalnew light signature with diamond-shaped daytime running lights. They also play a welcome sequence when the driver opens the car. The rear also benefits from a completely new design and redesigned lights equipped with micro-optical technology. A total of six body colors are offered for the electric SUV, which is also available in the Esprit Alpine version like Clio and Austral.

Spacious and durable interior
With a wheelbase 10 centimeters longer than the Renault Mégane E-Tech, the new Scénic should comfortably accommodate both front and rear passengers. They can benefit from itthe Solarbay opaque solar panoramic roof made partly from recycled glass and whose technology is similar to that adopted by Porsche and Volkswagen in particular. This means it can be opaque or transparent on demand.

The volume of the trunk is included between 545 and 1,670 liters with the bench folded down and 38.7 liters of storage space available in the passenger compartment.

Here, the electric SUV gives pride of place to sustainable materials, while the top-of-the-range Iconic is known for itdashboard covered with linden. Almost all materials used in the driver’s seat of this new addition to the range are recycled. The seats are completely covered in fabric made from recycled fibers. Renault is also banning leather from its new Scénic.
Android is still in the game
The driver can benefit from thislarge 12-inch touch screen integrating the OpenR Link infotainment system developed by the manufacturer and based on Android Automotive 12. This is of course compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as with around fifty applications available via Google Play. A route planner is also integrated and updates are done remotely via OTA technology.

It also includes voice recognition, as well as artificial intelligence. It is able to make suggestions tailored to the driver, such as activating the air conditioning in the event of fog. The central screen is connected to digital handset 12.3 inches joined together to form a large plate like the one on the Peugeot e-3008, which will be revealed in a few days. The graphics have been redesigned and largely modernized compared to other models in the series.
Generous autonomy
Rest on CMF-EV modular platform The new Renault Scénic developed by the brand, which also equips the Mégane E-Tech and other Nissan Ariyas, is available in several versions with two power outputs and two batteries taken from the above models. First to board 125 kW or 170 hp engine and a torque of 280 Nm. The second develops 160 kW (around 217 hp) for a torque of 300 Nm.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 8.4 to 9.3 seconds for a top speed of 150 to 170 km/h. The basic version uses a 60 kWh battery using NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) technology from the Mégane and offers a range of 420 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The most efficient variant inherits the 87 kWh package from Ariya. Which then allows him to browse up to 620 kilometers per charge. Both variants can or collect 150 to 170 kW when charging with direct current.

If Renault does not communicate the required time, the brand explains that 50 kWh can be recovered in 30 minutes. Which gives according to our calculations about 35 minutes to go from 10 to 80%compared to 20 to 25 minutes for the Tesla Model Y, depending on the version. Note that it is also possible to program charging to start off-peak, for example. The mobile application also allows the car to be preheated before departure.
The SUV also has a battery preconditioning technology thanks to the navigation provided by Google Maps and the heat pump. A total of four levels of regeneration are also available on this Scénic E-Tech, incl single pedal driving modeas, among others, on the Nissan Leaf. Level 2 autonomous driving is also on the agenda, while the car will inaugurate Fireman Access, which makes it easier for firefighters to access the battery in the event of an accident.
Price and release date
In its press release, the manufacturer announces that its new Scénic E-Tech will be officially launched in early 2024without specifying a more precise date.
It specifies that it will be produced in the Douai factory, in the north of France, where it will also host the production of the future R5 E-Tech next year. We will have to wait until we know the price of the electric SUV, which should undoubtedly exceed 40,000 euros but remain eligible for the environmental bonus.
